Summer Intensive Programme

Ballet Nelson offers three-day intensive programme held during the summer break, bringing together dedicated students and experienced guest tutors for a focused learning experience.

Open to both enrolled Ballet Nelson students and visiting dancers, these intensives provide the opportunity to work with new teaching perspectives, deepen technique, and return to regular training with renewed focus and motivation.

Programme Details

Ballet Nelson’s intensives are structured three-day training programmes designed to support dancers in developing technique, strength, flexibility, musicality, and performance skills.

Training includes classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, and lyrical, with guest tutors working alongside Ballet Nelson’s regular teaching staff to offer fresh perspectives and professional industry experience.

Junior Programme

RAD Grades 3-4 (approx ages 7-9)
Half-day Programme

Fees: $150

Intermediate Programme

RAD Grade 5 – Intermediate Foundation (approx ages 10-12)
Full-day Programme

Fees: $200

Senior Programme

Intermediate – Advanced (13+)

Who can attend the intensives?

The intensives are open to both Ballet Nelson students and visiting dancers. Placement is based on age, experience, and training level.

What dance styles are included?

Classes may include classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, and lyrical. Class offerings may vary slightly depending on enrolment numbers and age groups.

Can students choose only ballet or jazz?

Where possible, we will accommodate requests. Please note preferences when registering, and we will do our best to place students accordingly.

What are the daily hours?

Junior dancers attend half-day programmes.
Senior and adult dancers attend full-day programmes.
Exact schedules will be confirmed closer to the intensive dates.

Where are the intensives held?

Classes are held at Ballet Nelson Studio and Hope Community Hall.

Who teaches the intensives?

Each intensive includes guest tutors alongside Ballet Nelson’s regular teaching staff, offering students fresh perspectives and professional experience.

What should students bring?

Students should bring appropriate dancewear, plenty of food, and a water bottle, especially for full-day programmes.

How are class levels determined?

Class placement is guided by the information provided at registration. If you’re unsure which level is most suitable, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise.
